DO note all of the water displays that reference Martin Luther King, Jr.’s line “let justice roll down like water.” It is from “Letter from a Birmingham Jail” in which he invokes a variation of a Bible verse.
DO spend at least a day in the Civil Rights District.
DO go for a three or so days.
DO ignore the sites that say there isn’t much to do.
DON’T try to see the city in a two-day ordeal.
DO wear walking shoes.
DO wear proper clothing. If it’s summer, stick with cottons and things that breathe because the air is like hot soup.
DON’T skip out on the Freedom Walk.
DO exercise an empathetic mind.
