Southern Road Trip: Pensacola Beach
I typically do not like resort towns, resort hotels, resort anything. However, I’ll make an exception for Pensacola Beach – but only because of the beach itself. There are hundreds of packages you can do on the little strip of land – dolphin experiences, body surfing, flight demonstrations – but I can’t tell you about them because I didn’t do them.
I did what I had planned to do in Myrtle Beach. I flung off my sandals, found myself a beach chair, and propped myself up under an umbrella. If you’re going to relax on the beaches, you’ll likely have to stay at one of the resorts because they do section off various parts of the beach for their own use and restrict the usage by non-hotel guests. The chairs must also be rented – and they aren’t cheap. That said, we got to the beach early (8 AM) before there was a squabble for chairs and before the attendants started demanding that we rent them.
The day heated up to well over 90 degrees and a thick humidity stuck to my arms by noon, so all that said, we packed up and continued on our drive along the coast.
